Brotherly love…

I recently read a blog post from a site talking about the big sister and how she wouldn’t change anything about her little brother who was born with a limb difference.  She simply didn’t see the difference, he was still her little brother no matter what. After reading that I got to thinking about my boys. Big brother has a heart of gold and is Baby bears biggest encourager. In most videos we take you can hear him in the back ground cheering him on. Baby Bear loves him. End. Of. Story. He has trouble falling asleep, lay him by big brother and he will be asleep in no time. Falls down, big brother will do something to make him laugh and he completely forgot about those little scrapes on his knees. We are so very thankful for the love those two share. The more I think about it the prouder I am. Big Brother being the only child for 7 years and then becoming a big brother to a little brother who had a lot going on. We found out everything at 28 weeks. I didn’t think it would be helpful for Big brother to be told about it then because well,  unfortunetly he has his Mama’s worrying problem. Who wants their kids to worry. I sure don’t!!! So the plan was to just tell him before he came to see him for the first time. Well that all happened super quick. One second they are telling me your little guy gets to escape the NICU and come stay with you!! Two seconds later here walks in big brother and grandma into my room. So I looked at Big Brother and said let’s go for a walk and see if we can’t find your new little brother. As we were walking I started talking about how everyone is born a little different. Then I go one to tell him our sweet little guy was born without his left hand and both feet. (That still makes me feel like I can’t breathe when I type it). Big brothers response- ” but he is fine right!? He doesn’t need those things.” Me standing there just looking at him thinking oh my goodness my little guy is meant to be baby Bears brother, without a doubt!  From that point on He has been a protective, sweet big brother. They make my heart happy knowing the relationship these two boys have. I was so afraid we were going to be upside down with all the new adjustments we were going to be making. But really the only adjeustment made was not sleeping through the night!! Big brother hasn’t skipped a beat and we are so ever thankful for that. They are already best friends,  picking on each other and all! I know we are all hand picked to be where we are and get to be moms and dads to the kids who need us. I do believe that goes for siblings too!!
